Wellness disclaimer
Pulse Tracker is a general wellness app. It is designed to help you observe and track everyday heart and lifestyle metrics. It is not a medical device, it is not cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or any other regulator, and it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate or prevent any disease or medical condition.
What the app does
| Metric | Where it comes from | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Heart rate, respiratory rate, R-R intervals, HRV (RMSSD, SDNN, pNN50) | The iPhone camera, by photoplethysmography (PPG) of your fingertip | Wellness estimates. Movement, lighting, cold fingers and pressure on the lens affect them. The app shows a quality score so you can repeat a noisy reading. |
| Stress, energy, Heart Score, rhythm label | Calculated from the heart rate and HRV above | Wellness indicators for self-awareness. The rhythm label describes the share of beats in slow, normal and fast rate ranges. It is not an ECG and does not detect arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation or any heart condition. |
| Blood pressure (logged) | Numbers you type in from your own validated cuff | A journal with trends and standard category labels. The category labels are for information; a diagnosis of hypertension is made by a clinician. |
| Blood pressure (estimated) | Derived from pulse-wave timing after you calibrate with a cuff reading | An estimate, always labeled as such, shown only between cuff readings. It is not a measurement, it is not validated to any clinical standard, and it must not be used to adjust medication or make any medical decision. |
| Blood oxygen (SpO2) | Numbers you type in from a pulse oximeter | A log. The app does not measure oxygen saturation. |
| AI health assistant, food scanner, diet plan, breathing programs, self-tests | General information generated by software | Education and lifestyle support only, not medical advice. |
Not a substitute for care
Nothing in the app or on this website is medical advice. Always seek the advice of your physician or another qualified health professional with any questions about a medical condition, before starting or changing any treatment, and before acting on anything the app shows. Never disregard professional advice or delay seeking it because of something you read here or saw in the app.
If you have chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting, a very fast or very slow pulse with symptoms, or a blood pressure reading above 180/120 with symptoms, call your local emergency number immediately. Do not rely on the app.
Who should not use the app
The app is intended for adults. Do not use it as a monitor for a diagnosed heart condition, during or after a medical procedure, or in place of a device prescribed by your clinician. If you have a pacemaker or implanted defibrillator, follow your care team's guidance on heart rate monitoring.
Accuracy
Camera-based readings can differ from medical instruments. Keep still, keep your finger warm, use light pressure and measure under the same conditions each day. The app's trends and comparisons with your own baseline are more informative than any single value.
Website content
Guides and comparisons on this site are written for general education and are reviewed against published guidance from bodies such as the American Heart Association. They are not personalised advice. Information about other apps is taken from their public App Store listings and may change.
